Nigeria proposes obstetric fistula prevention to the World Bank

In late November 2006, Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Health sent a proposal for piloting obstetric fistula prevention to the World Bank, UNFPA, WHO, several bilateral development assistance agencies in search of funding. The proposal resulted from the visit a few weeks earlier by HDI’s executive director. With this, Nigeria’s Ministry of Health must be close to a world record for government speed and efficiency, as it drafted, revised, approved and submitted the proposal within just a few weeks.
